Head of the Aketajawe Lolobata National Park Sat Tata Noor Adu Rahmata stated here on Wednesday that he had discussed the plan to build a wildlife museum in Koli Village, Oba District, with the mayor of Tidore Kepulauan City.
The wildlife museum would be built on a three-hectare plot of land. It could function as a bird conservation area and an educational facility for the society to gain information on the breeding of various species of birds as well as could serve as a tourist destination, Rahmata remarked.
"We hope this museum will be one of the tourist attractions in the city, and therefore, we seek the support of the Tidore Kepulauan city government," he said.
He noted that the Aketajawe National Park was spread across a total area of 767 thousand hectares, of which some 40 thousand hectares were located in the Tidore Kepulauan City.
The national park is home to 25 species of birds of which the local government is giving greater attention to increase the population of the Algae Cockatoo species.
During a telephonic conversation with Antara, Mayor of Tidore Kepulauan City H. Ali Ibrahim expressed support to the plan to build the wildlife museum.
"I really support the Aketajawe National Park Authoritys plan of building a wildlife museum. The authority needs to discuss the plan with the Tidore Kepulauan Citys Regional Planning and Development Affairs Office in order to comply with the citys development plan," he affirmed.
"The Tidore Kepulauan city government hopes the Aketajawe National Park Authority will establish intensive communication and coordination with the related agencies to implement the plan," he added.(*)
