Everything could be overcome in coordination through on line system."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Operation of logistic train for container goods at Tanjung Priok will reduce dwelling time and congestion at the Jakartas port, an official said.

"Currently dwelling time at the port is 3.2 days and soon it would be reduced to less than 3 days," Agung Kuswandono, a deputy at the office of the coordinating minister for maritime affairs and natural resources, said here on Friday (24/1).

If the auto gate, port train and on line system are operational, there should be no problem of congestion at the countrys largest and busiest port, Agung said.

"Everything could be overcome in coordination through on line system," he said.

He said the government would build auto gate at the container terminal of the Jakarta International Container Terminal under on line system and at the same time open billing system of import duty, taxes and excises also on line.

"The port of Tanjung Priok would be quieter with less people but more activities," he said, adding Tanjung Priok would be expanded and is expected to be the largest in Southeast Asia.

He said the operation of the logistics train would reduce at least one third of congestion in the port complex.

President Joko Widodo has said he wanted dwelling time not longer than 3 days in Tanjung Priok to be able to compete with other major ports in this region.
