Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - The immigration office in Mataram, the capital of the eastern province of West Nusa Tenggara, has deported 60 foreigners from January to July this year.

"Of the total 39 hails from China," the head of the offices enforcement and surveillance section, Agung Wibowo, said here on Sunday.

He said of the 39 deported Chinese citizens 36 were nabbed while working in a coal-fired power project in Sambelia, East Lombok.

Three others were caught in the Sekotong tourist area in West Lombok, he said.

He said all of the Chinese citizens had been charged with violating Law Number 6 of 2011 on immigration.

Agung said other foreigners who were deported in the period were from Germany totaling 6 and three each from England, Switzerland and Russia while the rest from Spain, Italy, Japan and New Zealand.

He said all the Chinese nationals would be deported through the Soekarno-Hatta airport while one from Lombok airport.

Agung said his office has increased its surveillance on foreigners visiting the region following the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Zone and a free visa facility for citizens from 84 countries.(*)
