He made the remarks in his State of the Nation Address at a joint session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) at the parliament building here on Tuesday.
Jokowi made the statement while unveiling four strategic aspects, which have become the government's priority to support a breakthrough in expediting development projects. The other issues are democracy, political stability, and security.
He said success is inseparable from the fact that the TNI and Indonesian police have ceaselessly dedicated themselves to the nation and state.
"The government has made constant efforts to boost the professionalism of the members of the TNI and Polri through welfare approaches and weaponry modernization, including support to make domestic industries self-reliant to supply military armament systems to the TNI and operational devices to the Polri," he affirmed.
Jokowi further remarked that Indonesia will not become productive, progressive, and a champion if the country does not uphold human rights and continues to face political uproar.
"(If so), we will spend most of our energy on stemming political uproar rather than making progress," he added.
