Nurdin Tampubolon of the Commission XI said the target to be proposed by the government is quite realistic under the prevailing condition.
"It is quite good if the target could be reached amid the global economic slowdown," Nurdin said when asked to comment on the financial note given by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in a state of the nation address at a plenary session here on Tuesday.
This year, the government hopes to chalk up a 5.2 percent growth .
Nurdin said he was not optimistic that the target could be reached this year, although the trend has been on the rise from 4.92 percent in the first quarter to 5.18 percent in the second quarter of this year.
He said a growth of 5.1 percent this year is more reasonable.
The government calculated the state budget for 2017 on economic growth target of 5.3 percent, inflation at 4 percent, Indonesian oil price at US$45 per barrel and rupiah exchange rate 13,300 per U.S.dollar.
The government predicted that the global economic condition would improve in 2017.
Jokowi said the government needs to work the harder to face global economic uncertainties and slowdown not only in developed and developing economies.
Nurdin said the tax revenue target of Rp1,459.9 trillion set in the draft state budget for 2017 was too high.
"It is too high but it could be more reasonable by the time the budget is debated by September-October," Nurdin said,
The government hopes to receive more extra income from its tax amnesty policy in the coming several months.
The government has announced tax amnesty program to last from July, 2016 until March 2017.(*)
