In a press conference at the Presidential Palace complex on Friday, Hadi stated there are no plans to issue a Presidential Decree on a moratorium or temporary halt to the project.
"As previously stated, the government remains committed to completing the IKN construction as quickly as possible," he affirmed.
Hadi made this statement in response to various proposals from several parties urging the government to consider a moratorium on IKN construction.
He stated that all public input and opinions are valued. However, the government is focused on completing the construction of core facilities and infrastructure within the next three years.
"We welcome all opinions and input for the IKN," he remarked.
The minister stated that the IKN Authority is striving to meet the target set by President Prabowo Subianto to complete the new capital's development within the next three years.
Basic infrastructure, such as executive, legislative, and judicial government offices, is the primary focus to support the gradual relocation of the capital's administration, Hadi stated.
"These are the required infrastructure facilities before the president signs the Presidential Decree on the relocation of the capital," he elaborated.
He noted that there are no changes or new regulations specifically related to the new capital. The government's current focus remains on accelerating the development of essential infrastructure at IKN.
Several demands and proposals have emerged regarding the new capital's future, including from the National Democratic (Nasdem) Party, which has urged President Prabowo to immediately issue a Presidential Decree appointing IKN as the nation's capital.
If that is not possible, the party urged the government to impose a temporary moratorium on the development of IKN Nusantara.
Deputy Chairman of the Nasdem Party, Saan Mustopa, believes the development of IKN must be aligned with fiscal capacity and national priorities.
He also suggested that IKN temporarily function as the capital of East Kalimantan Province, while Jakarta remains the national capital through a revision of Law Number 3 of 2022.
This proposal aims to avoid prolonged controversy and ensure the existing infrastructure in the new capital remains in use.
