Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has given a green light for the revision of Law No. 15 Year 2006 on the Supreme Audit Board (BPK).

"The President said, please go ahead," BPK Chairman Azhar Azis said, after presenting a summary of the First Semester Audit Results of 2016 to the Head of State at the Merdeka Palace, here, Wednesday.

Upon receiving the summary, President Jokowi made comments on cost recovery and public-owned television broadcasting TVRI, which had recorded a disclaimer over the past four years with potential losses of Rp400 billion.

The BPK has also asked the President to support its plan to revise the Law on BPK.

"An amendment of the Law on BPK contains the strengthening of the BPK authorities," Azis, former MP from the Golkar Party, said.

The draft amended law is now in the office of the coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs.

"We have been invited to become sources in discussions on planned amendments of Law No. 15 Year 2006 on BPK," he added.

The BPK has also invited President Jokowi to officially open an international audit board meeting, to be held in Jakarta on Oct. 25, 2016, and participated in by environmental auditors from 50 countries.
