Bangkalan, E Java (ANTARA News) - Floods triggered by incessant heavy rains since Sunday morning have inundated two districts on Madura Island in East Java Province.

The provincial road connecting the districts of Bangkalan and Sampang on Madura Island has been flooded.

In Bangkalan District, the Blega market and several houses and roads are facing severe flooding, resulting in severe traffic jams that last for hours.

Meanwhile in Sampang District, the heavy rains caused Kalikemuning River to overflow and flood the district town of Sampang as well as the villages of Kamuning, Pasean, Tanggumung, Panggung, Gunung Maddah, and Dalpenang.

In Dapenang Village, the floods affected local houses and several schools, forcing the students to stay at home on Monday.(*)
