The award was received by the Head of North Kalimantan, Irianto Lambrie. The award has become a special gift for the local people.
Through a press release from North Kalimantan on Monday, Lambrie said that by preserving the dance, the province was trying to protect the endangered local cultures.
Lambrie expressed hope that the people would continue to maintain and preserve the local cultures.
In September 2016, in Jakarta, as many as 150 intangible cultures received the Indonesian Heritage Award.
Jugit Demaring dance is a dance to honor the Sultan of Bulungan kingdom, which must be protected and preserved as a local custom.
He expresses hope that the local customs owned by North Kalimantan would be beneficial to attract domestic and foreign tourists.(*)
