Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The All-Indonesia Football Association (PSSI) will hold its congress in Jakarta on Thursday (Nov 10) to elect its new chairman, a spokesman has said.

The direct election will be held openly and covered directly by the media, according to the PSSI secretary general, Azwan Karim, here on Wednesday.

"We want many people to watch this election process," he stated, adding that the new chairman will lead the national soccer association during for the 2016-2020 period.

He expressed the hope that the election will be a smooth process in accordance with the demands of a predetermined agenda.

The election will be conducted by an election committee, led by Agum Gumelar.

Several candidates who will compete for the pose of general chairman of the PSSI include Edy Rahmayadi, Moeldoko, Tony Aprilani, Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto, Eddy Rumpoko, Djohar Arifin Husin and Bernhard Limbong.(*)
