Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended a workshop of 100 Indonesian economists organized by the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef), here, Tuesday.

Participating economists included Anggito Abimanyu, Halim Alamsyah, Gunawan Sumodiningrat, Bustanul Arifin, Fauizi Ichsan, Sri Adiningsih, Anton Gunawan, and Didik J Rachbini.

Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati were also present at the gathering.

Indef launched a book on its analysis of 2016s economic conditions and 2017s economic prospects.

Founder and President Director of Indef Didik J Rachbini noted that the Indonesian economy is facing a test both internally and externally.

"There are (various factors, such as the) Brexit phenomena, the victory of Donald Trump as the next US president, and de-globalization," Rachbini remarked.

Indonesias huge domestic market holds economic capital that should be utilized, he said.

"Besides this, the State Budget, amounting to Rp2 quadrillion, should be spent efficiently, and de-bureaucratization must continue," he added.(*)
