"KPK has also kept contact with the Military Police Center (Puspom) in connection with the alleged involvement of a TNI member in the case. TNI has also appreciated (our effort) and committed themselves to give KPK access (to the evidence). In addition, they will also provide security if KPK takes forced legal measures," KPK Chief Agus Raharjo said at a press conference at the KPK building here Thursday.
KPK has named Marine Security Board (Bakamla) deputy chief for information, law and cooperation, identified by initials as ESH, as a suspect in the bribery case. He is suspected of having accepted a bribe of Rp2 billion from PT Melati Technofo Indonesia to win a tender for the procurement of satellite-monitoring device worth an estimated Rp200 billion.
"The revised state budget is made mid-yearly. The revision of the budget should be a part of the efforts to save (state revenues) in a well-guided way. But in reality, there are still corrupt practices in the procurement (of assets). As a matter of fact, the procurement process plays a strategic role in maintaining state security and interest. If the state budget fund is embezzled, then it will have an impact on state defense," KPK Deputy Chairman Laode Muhammad Syarif said.
KPK could cooperate with the Military Police Center in uncovering the case, Laode believed.
"KPK thanks TNI for its cooperation and full support for the KPK team in disclosing the case. We all have cooperated with TNI," he said.(*)
