"The goals of todays meeting are strengthening Japan-Indonesia bilateral relations, strengthening Japan-Indonesia economic ties and confirming collaboration in recent regional and international situations," Spokesperson of Japanese Foreign Ministry Yasuhisa Kawamura said during a press briefing here on Sunday.
Prime Minister Abe was scheduled to meet President Joko Widodo on Sunday in the Presidential Palace of Bogor, East Java.
Kawamura said that the meeting was expected to reinforce the strategic partnership and strenghtening bilateral relations in the anticipation the 60th anniversary of the Japan-Indonesia diplomatic relations in 2018.
The two countries are expected to strengthen their economic ties in several sectors such as maritime security, remote islands development, and culture.
PM Abes visit to Indonesia was also expected to confirm cooperation in infrastructure development such as the Patimban Port, irrigation and coastal protection as well as to further improving the investment environment in the country.
"We also continue to seek early implementation of the TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) along with the other member countries," Kawamura said.
The two countries would also discuss their collaboration in recent regional and international situations to foster regional peace and stability, Kawamura said. (*)
