The Rumah Kita warehouses would not only function as part of the sea toll, but would also serve as logistic centers to organize goods that would be exported without any need to send these to Java first.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesias Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi has said logistic warehouses, also called Rumah Kita, built to support the sea toll program, can begin their operations in March.

"This March, God willing (Insya Allah), these will become operational," Budi stated here on Friday.

He admitted that his ministry would hold further discussions on the project that also involves state-run companies.

The government has determined 13 locations for these Rumah Kita warehouses. These are: Nias, Mentawai, Natuna, Sanggate, Dompu, Waingapu, Rote, Kalabahi, Tahuna, Namlea, Saumlaki, Manokwari and Timika.

The deputy of construction and transportation facility of the State Enterprises Ministry, Pontas Tambunan, informed that he would wait for the Transportation Ministrys decision about the location of these warehouses while settling the connection among state enterprises that took part in the project.

The Rumah Kita warehouses would not only function as part of the sea toll, but would also serve as logistic centers to organize goods that would be exported without any need to send these to Java first.

The Rumah Kita warehouses were developed as per the stipulation contained in the Presidential Decree 71/2015 on goods and staple food storage.

These will be managed jointly by state-run enterprises and regional government-owned enterprises, such as PT Pelayaran Indonesia, PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, PT Pelindo I, II, III and IV.

Rumah Kita facilities would be integrated with the air bridge concept to reduce price discrepancy in mountainous regions in Papua, such as Manokwari and Timika.(*)
