Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Newly installed Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Arifin Tasrif plans to boost the countrys image, or the Wonderful Indonesia brand, in a bid to increase the number of Japanese foreign tourist arrivals in the country.

"We will promote (tourism) several times along with the Ministry of Tourism as well as with the national carrier Garuda Indonesia to facilitate smoother transportation from Japan to the tourist destinations," Arifin stated here after being installed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the State Palace here on Monday.

According to Arifin, typical Indonesian delicacies, as the tools for promoting culinary diplomacy, are also viewed to draw the interest of foreigners, especially the Japanese, who have a long-standing history with the country.

Additionally, Arifin will showcase the countrys investment potentials to Japan in order to develop the tourism sector in Indonesia.

Moreover, Arifin shed light on various Japanese investments in infrastructure and energy projects in Indonesia.

"The point is that the projects are very strategic for us," he pointed out.

On Monday, President Jokowi installed 17 new Indonesian ambassadors at the State Palace.
