Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The shareholders of Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) have agreed to name vice president of Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) Suprajarto new chief executive of BRI.

Both BRI and BNI are state lender.

Suprajarto is to replace Asmawi Syam, who has ended his term of office leading the countrys largest bank in asset.

In an annual share-holders meeting here on Wednesday, former minister of the national development planning and head of the National Development Planning Board Andrinof Chaniago as chief commissioner of the bank replacing Mustafa Abubakar. Nicolaus Teguh Budi Harjanto was named new commissioner

"Two new commissioners are named Andrinof Chaniago and Nicolaus Teguh Budi Harjanto," Asmawi Syam said.

The shareholders also replaced operating director Zulhefli Abidin with Indra Utoyo, a director of the state owned telecommunication company PT. Telkom .

Suprajarto is no new comer in BRI , which is the leader in the small credit market in the country.

Suprajarto was director of services and networks of BRI in 2007-2015.

BRI reported a 28 percent increase in assets from Rp778 trillion in 2014 to Rp1,003.6 trillion in 2016 under Asmawi.

However, its net profit grew only slightly 2.4 percent to Rp25.8 trillion in 2016.(*)
