Samarinda, E Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - The police in Nunukan, North Kalimantan, have arrested a passenger of KM Lambelu ship carrying 7 kilograms of methamphetamine from Tarakan.

A spokesman of East Kalimantan police Senior Commissioner Ade Yaya Suryana stated here on Tuesday that the suspect was arrested upon arrival at Tonon Taka port, Nunukan, on Monday night.

"The arrest was made when the police conducted routine checks on passengers arriving at Tunon Taka port," Ade noted, adding that the 38-year-old suspect hid the drugs in coffee packages.

"The suspect came from Tarakan, and upon his arrival in Tunon Taka port, Nunukan police, who conducted routine checks, found him carrying 7 kilograms of methamphetamine hid in coffee packages," Ade revealed.

The police questioned the suspect for further investigation of the case under section 112 (2) and section 114 (2) of Indonesias criminal code with minimum 20 years of jail sentence or death sentence.(*)
