Buyers from the US and the Netherlands are very particular about the quality of the product, which must meet international standards."
Manado (ANTARA News) - The demand for crude coconut oil (CCO) produced in North Sulawesi has continued to increase among buyers from the US and the Netherlands.

"The high demand is a good opportunity for the local farmers and exporters to increase the production of CCO to add to the countrys income," Darwin Muksin, head of the foreign trade sector of North Sulawesis Industry and Commerce Department, stated on Wednesday.

According to Muksin, the exports of CCO to the US and the Netherlands are considerably high, reaching thousands of tons.

In last February, North Sulawesi had exported nine thousand tons of CCO, which was able to generate foreign exchange worth US$14.39 million.

Similarly, four thousand tons of CCO were exported to the Netherlands, generating $6.65 million in foreign exchange.

The higher demand for Indonesian CCO among international buyers highlights the need to increase production and maintain good quality.

"Buyers from the US and the Netherlands are very particular about the quality of the product, which must meet international standards," Muksin noted.
