A monument called Equator Monument in the location already attracts tourists both local and foreign tourists, acting head of the city tourism office Zulkifli said.
The location would be the main tourist destination in West Kalimantan when construction of the park has been completed, Zulkifli said here on Saturday.
"The monument is already known in the world and when the Equator Park has been completed the location would be the main tourist destination not only in Pontinak but also in West Kalimantan," he said.
He said construction of the Equator Park, which will be a modern recreation center in the city, may take two to three years.(*)
