"We were visiting the area to monitor the personnels alertness in the voting site," the Public Relation Head of Jakarta Regional Police Senior Commissioner (Pol) Argo Yuwono said here on Wednesday.
Leaders of security institution who visited the voting area include the Head of Indonesian Police General (Pol) Tito Karnavian, the Commander of Jakarta Regional Indonesian Military Mayor General (TNI) Jaswandi, and the Head of Jakarta Police Inspector General (Pol) M Iriawan.
The leaders were also ensuring the security condition in Jakarta.
They are also monitoring the situation in Dharmawangsa voting site of South Jakarta as Vice President Jusuf Kalla was present in the area to cast his vote.
Yuvono added that the police have announced that mass mobilization from other regions to Jakarta would be prohibited.
The Jakarta General Election Commission held the second round of governor election participated by Basuki Tjahaja Purnama-Djarot Syaiful Hidayat and Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno pairs.
Incumbent governor Purnama and vice governor Hidayat are competing against former education minister Baswedan and businessman Uno in the runoff election.
The police have deployed 65 thousand personnel, including 20 thousand police officers and 15 thousand members of the military and civil defense forces, to ensure safe and smooth implementation of the election.(*)
