The North Buton district head, Abu Hasan, here on Wednesday, said to market the product the administration is working with the Ministry of Agriculture.
"This is our first step to penetrate the global market," he said.
Abu Hasan added, the quality of North Butons organic red rice derived from Kambowa District has received recognition from various parties including universities.
He appreciated the support of the central government in developing and marketing the organic red rice.
"Helping to market the red rice to Europe proves the central government gives attention to realize North Buton as an organic rice district in Indonesia," he said.
According to him, red rice has long been developed by the people of North Buton as main staple food.
"Lately, the plants are developed organically or without chemical fertilizer," he said.
The North Buton administration continues to encourage farmers to expand the planting area of the organic rice, he pointed out.(*)
