"A sustainable forestry sector is an important issue for both Sweden and Indonesia," he said at a joint press conference with President Joko Widodo after a meeting at Bogor State Palace here, Monday.
The Swedish King met with President Joko Widodo at Bogor Palace to discuss several cooperation agreements, including in the field of forestry research.
While in Bogor, King Carl made a visit to the Center for International Forest Research (CIFOR) at Situ Gede.
"The research center carries out research on world forest management. As one of the founders of CIFOR, Sweden has a long-term commitment towards encouraging sustainable forests in the world," the Swedish King remarked.
Besides forestry, King Carl also hailed Indonesias efforts in infrastructure development.
He noted the development efforts provided opportunities for the two countries to strengthen cooperation in the fields of investment, as well as education and research.
The Swedish king accompanied by Princess Silvia arrived in Indonesia on Sunday for a five-day state visit.
King Carl and President Joko Widodo have witnessed the signing of several memorandums of understanding, including on free-visa facility for diplomats, in transportation sector and also a letter of intent on creative industry cooperation.(*)
