Cilacap (ANTARA News) - The refinery of the Cilacap unit of the state-oil and gas company PT Pertamina in Central Java, began to produce oil fuel Pertamax high quality with Euro-4 standard on Monday.

Pertamax High Quality is friendlier environmentally with sulfur content of maximum 50 ppm (part per million), General Manager of the Cilacap, Central Java, unit of Pertamina Nyoman Sukadana said here on Monday.

Nyoman Sukadana said Pertamax High Quality is produced with a capacity of 37,600 barrels per stream day from the Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracking (RFCC) plant .

Nyoman said currently Indonesia still uses Euro 2 standard with sulfur content of maximum 300 ppm.

"The global Euro standard is Euro 6. Therefore, the use of Euro 4 in Pertamax High Quality would help greatly in reducing air pollution in Indonesia," he said.

Although the Research Octane Number (RON) is the same as that of Pertamax regulat 92, Pertamax High Quality is superior with its more efficient combustion, lead free and "eco friendly", that the car would perform better.

Senior Vice President Refining Operation PT Pertamina Ardhy Mokobombang said Pertamina already produces high quality oil fuel since early this year such as Pertamax Turbo High Quality and Pertamax High Quality in the Balongan refinery, Pertamax High Quality in Cilacap, and Pertadex High Quality in Dumai and Balikpapan.

All types of the high quality oil fuels would go to the market in large scale on December 10 this year, Ardhy said.

"Currently Pertamax high quality is sold in fuel filling stations to test the market in a number of large cities. For the time being the price is the same as those of Pertamax, Pertamax Turbo, and Pertadex. Later the prices would be adjusted," he said.

He said all products of Pertamax, Pertamax Turbo, and Pertadex would become "high quality" products in line with the existing regulation.

He said the management of Pertamina is still discussing the name of the Pertamax high quality.
