Rice firm director named suspect in consumer cheating case

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Director of rice firm PT Indonesia, Beras Unggul (IBU), initialed TW, has been named by police as a suspect for allegedly cheating consumers in the production of a certain type of rice.

TW was named as a suspect by the investigators of the Special Economic Crime Affairs of the National Polices (Polris) Criminal and Investigation Department.

He was named a suspect in the alleged production and trade of Cap Ayam Jago and Maknyuss Rice by his company PT IBU.

"PT IBU director has been named a suspect in the cheating case," Head of the Public Information of Polri, Senior Commissioner Martinus Sitompul noted at the Polri Headquarters here on Wednesday.

He stated that TW was named a suspect because his company had allegedly cheated its consumers as the quality of rice it produced was not in accordance with the labels in the rice package.

TW has now been arrested and detained in a cell of the Polris Criminal and Investigation Department. (*)
