"Until Aug 16, fund inflow has reached a total of Rp130 trillion," Martowardojo noted in Jakarta on Tuesday night.
He added that the high capital inflows reveal international confidence in Indonesias macroeconomic stability.
However, the capital inflow slightly decreased compared to the same period in 2016. In Aug last year, capital inflow reached Rp154 trillion.
"When compared to last year for the same period, a total of Rp154 trillion of inflow funds were recorded last year," he remarked.
Nevertheless, the situation of capital flows in 2016 had experienced a reversal (capital reversal) as a result of the presidential election in the United States.
Thus, capital inflows into Indonesia by the end of 2016 reached only Rp126 trillion, although in Aug, it had reached Rp154 trillion.
"When there was the announcement of presidential election in the US, there was a capital reversal that caused the funds into Indonesia throughout 2016 to only reach Rp126 trillion," Martowardojo explained.(*)
