Jakarta (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale rocked North Maluku Province at about 11.07 p.m. Western Indonesia Standard Time or WIB on Saturday.

The epicenter of the quake, was in the sea at 37 kilometers (23 miles) northwest of Morotai Island, North Maluku at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The earthquake which was located 2.61 degrees North Latitude - 128.17 degrees East Longitude has no potential to cause a tsunami, the BMKG said.
