Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police has threatened to sack five members of the East Jakarta police resort for allegedly receiving a bribe to release two suspected drug abusers.

"They will be discharged dishonorably if they are found to be involved," Chief of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Inspector General Idham Azis said here on Thursday.

The five members of the narcotics unit and criminal investigation unit of the East Jakarta police resort are identified by their initials as SJS, LZ, FZ, NS, and DD.

Idham stated that the five police officers, including four chief brigadiers and one first brigadier, are undergoing intensive investigation in the profession and security field at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.

The two suspected drug abusers, who are fire department officers, are obliged to undergo legal process, he noted.

The police arrested the two suspected drug abusers, identified by their initials as A and D, at the East Jakarta Fire Department at Matraman Raya Street on Sunday (Nov 19), he revealed.

He added that the officers of the profession and security field at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police found the five police officers receiving a sum of money from the two suspected drug abusers while conducting Operation Nila.
