Dayeuhkolot, W Java (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inspected the construction project of Cieunteung retention pond, which is an effort to anticipate the flood disaster that hit South Bandung area in the rainy season.

"The retention pond is one of the efforts to reduce the flood disaster," Widodo stated here on Monday.

Furthermore, the president noted that the government will develop a water tunnel that can suck 600 cubic meters of water per second.

The construction project of Cieunteung retention pond is expected to be completed this year.

Meanwhile, the development of the tunnel will be started in 2018.

In addition, the Citarum River will also be normalized.

During the observation, the president was accompanied by Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Head Willem Rampangilei, West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan, and Bandung district head Dadang M Naser.
