I Ketut Rusnaya, the company`s production director, remarked here on Wednesday that the award was bestowed to encourage other companies in Indonesia to be compliant to safeguarding the environment through the existing information instruments.
"The award is the government`s acknowledgment that Petrokimia Gresik, a sophisticated chemical technology industry, has implemented an improved environmental management system every year," Rusnaya stated.
He noted that with the Green Proper rankings, PT Petrokimia Gresik is determined to maintain and improve its environmental management practices to achieve the highest category of Gold Proper.
"One of the indicators to obtain a Gold Proper rating is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program that focuses on sustainable empowerment to create an independent community," Rusnaya explained.
The company produces fertilizer and non-fertilizer products. Its fertilizer products include nitrogen fertilizer, urea, ammonium sulphate, phosphate fertilizer, superphosphate, and compound fertilizer and non-fertilizer products comprising ammonia, sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid, oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide.
It was formerly known as Proyek Petrokimia Surabaya and was renamed as PT Petrokimia Gresik, founded in 1972 and headquartered in Gresik, East Java.
