Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Inderawati has guaranteed the smooth disbursement of funds for the 2018 Asian Games, so that the National Athletic Training Center can utilize them.

"I am certain that all Asian Games (funds) will be disbursed smoothly. I want to go to KPPN (State Treasury Service Office) to see the process of budget disbursement," Inderawati stated at the Vice Presidential Palace here on Thursday.

Based on Presidential Regulation No. 95 of 2017 on Improvement of National Sports Performance, the budget disbursement mechanism for national athletes is no longer through the Indonesia for the Gold Program Executing Task Force.

The disbursement is directly conducted from the Ministry of Finance to the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The budget is expected to be released on January 2, 2018, to be transferred to the boards of the 40 national sports branches to be contested at the 2018 Asian Games.

The budget expected to be disbursed for the Asian Games is in the form of an additional Rp1.5 trillion for the Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee 2018. The committee has received some Rp500 billion of the budget in April 2017 and Rp735.06 billion to be added to the athletes` achievement fund worth Rp1.7 trillion.

Not only the 2018 Asian Games budget, the finance minister has made a commitment that all funds budgeted for 2018 will be disbursed in due time. Moreover, by the end of December 2017, several ministries and agencies in Jakarta and in the region will have disbursed funds.

"There is quite a significant increase at the year-end. As it is known that in the next 10 days up to Dec 29, we will see several ministries and agencies in the regions conducting budget disbursement, so we will also encourage our team," she remarked.

Earlier, during the handing over of the Public Information Openness Award 2017 by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, the finance minister was ranked first in the Public Affairs Ministry category.

Moreover, in his speech, Vice President Kalla commended and lauded the Ministry of Finance and also expressed hope that it would be able to improve its performance in maintaining transparency and accountability.

"I would like to express my gratitude and laud you all, who have been awarded, such as the finance minister, who has bagged the top award. This means that the budget will be disbursed even faster," Kalla stated to which the audience responded in a lighter vein.
