"This is proof that our war against drugs still continues. The drugs that were destroyed are good quality ones," West Java Police Chief Inspector General Agung Budi Maryoto said here on Friday.
The destruction was witnessed by representatives of the prosecutor's office, the National Anti-Narcotics Agency (BNN), the Legal and Human Rights office, ulemas, and anti-drugs activists.
The destroyed drugs comprised 5.14 kilogram of methamphetamine, 324 pills of ecstasy, 53.916 kilograms of marijuana, and 1,367 pills of other drugs.
The drugs were seized from 18 suspects caught in eight drug raids in the region.
The director of narcotic investigation senior commissioner Enggar revealed that drugs syndicate from Aceh dominate the West Java market.
"Eighteen suspects that we detained are `old players`. Most of them are from the Aceh networks and one suspect is a pregnant woman," he added.
The West Java Police plans to intensify its operation to prevent drug dealings, especially during the New Year`s celebrations.
"We have conducted raids, tonight there will be raids in some big cities in West Java ahead of the New year`s eve," he emphasized.
