"We received confirmation of participation from 21 Olympic Committees of Asian countries for Asian Games test event championships while the number of athletes who have confirmed their participation reaches 1,025," Inasgoc chairman Erick Thohir said after the 8th committee coordination meeting here on Sunday.
He said the games to be scrapped include those for the test event championships on February 10-24 and the main championships of Asian Games on August 18-September 2.
The minimum number of participating countries for the test events is four while the minimum number for the main events is six.
"We have also agreed if any Asian sport federation demands reduction of events OCA will directly do it without increasing the number of other events or events of other sport branches," Erick said.
Three sport branches that are still lack of participating countries for the test events in February until the second week of January are basketball, volleyball and football.
"We are still waiting for confirmation from the All Indonesia Football Association (PSSI) for more active efforts to invite other Asian countries to take part in the test event. If PSSI is unable to increase the number of participants up to a minimum number of four we will cancel the event," Erick said.
He said Inasgoc would wait until Wednesday before a final decision will be made.
The test event in February will be a collaboration of all Inasgoc aspects of organization from registration of participants, transportation, accomodation, catering service, broadcasting, information technology and volunteers.
