The Minister made the statement in the Fifth Islamic Conference of Ministers in Charge of Childhood with the theme "Realizing Child Friendly World" held in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday.
Through a press release, Minister Yembise stated that Indonesia willl continue to protect children from all forms of violence, including by implementing the Convention on the Rights of the Child through the Child Friendly District and City Program (CFC) program.
Furthermore, children could also be protected by developing the National Strategy for the Elimination of Violence Against Children in 2016 and taking preventive steps through the National Children`s Forum in 34 provinces in Indonesia and over 88 percent of the total districts across Indonesia.
"We also established family learning centers at provincial and district levels, created child-friendly schools in more than 3,000 schools, set up children`s creativity centers, child-friendly playgrounds, safe paths to and from schools, as well as created child friendly districts and villages to reach a child-friendly Indonesia by 2030," she explained.
She also revealed that Indonesia`s efforts in combating child abuse, which was done through the provision of services for victims of violence by establishing an Integrated Service Center for the Protection of Women and Children (P2TP2A) in all provinces and 238 districts and cities in country.
In addition, the Ministry is also committed to eliminating child labor in community institutions, employers` organizations, trade unions and the private sector, both at national and local levels.
"Another effort is to improve the data collection system by establishing a symphony to monitor cases and manage data on the protection and prevention of violence against children," she said.
The 3Ends program, that became the mainstay of the Ministry, is also introduced during the occasion, she added.
As previously reported, the 3Ends program is a part of the Ministry`s efforts to end violence against women and children, human trafficking, and economic disparities against women.
"We have established several pilot projects in 136 villages, implemented integrated community-based child protection (PATBM) to eliminate child abuse, as well as set up anti-trafficking and anti-pornography community task force and monitoring," she reiterated.
Moreover, based on the Child Protection Act of 2002 and the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) of 2015-2019, fulfilling the rights of children and protecting children from violence is one of Indonesia`s goals.
"Multi-sector cross-sectoral collaboration is needed. As one of the OIC members, Indonesia invited all parties to further increase the commitment together in protecting all children in the world," she concluded.
