Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s Finance Ministry has launched a software application to support the procurement of goods and services in a bid to streamline business processes for its users.

"I hope that the various created software would not only improve accountability and transparency but also strengthen governance," Finance Minister Sri Mulyani noted at a workshop on the procurement of goods and services here on Monday.

Development of the application for the procurement of goods and services will revamp the process in the ministry, she pointed out.

The ministry`s mobile electronic procurement of good and service (LPSE) software is based on the Android operating system aimed at easing access to application and procurement information system through smartphones.

The application also has a social media feature and access to contact numbers and email of the LPSE center.

The ministry has also launched an application that provides information on auctions, shared via short messaging services, to the head and secretary of the procurement service unit.

It launched an Information System on Direct Procurement Management (SIMPel) version 5.0 to simplify the direct procurement process.

Currently, the SIMPel application is used by other ministries and institutions, including the Social Affairs Ministry and Education and Culture Ministry.
