Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media of the Presidential Secretariat, Bey Machmudin, noted in a written statement in Jakarta on Saturday that Jokowi had visited a sneaker shoe exhibition held at a mall located in Senayan area, Jakarta, on Saturday afternoon.
Besides spending the weekend with his family, the Head of State used the opportunity to monitor the development of the shoe market and industry, especially sneaker, in the country.
"I want to see the kind of market trends and the kind of shoe trends," the president told journalists.
Although still dominated by products from abroad, the president believes that Indonesian sneaker products are superior in quality, so as to compete in the international market.
"There is also a handmade product; for example, there is a production form that is also good," he remarked.
In addition to superiority in terms of quality, the price offered is also more competitive. This, according to the president, will further increase the selling value of Indonesian sneakers products.
"We must see the market trend, the kind of preferred design, and the preferred colors. If consumers are happy, they will surely purchase them," he revealed.
Not to forget, the president has invited the people of Indonesia to participate, along with the government, to support and appreciate the products of the nation.
"Buy domestic products," he added.
The president also showed the shoes that he bought locally for Rp380 thousand. "This is from Bandung area, and it is really good," said he pointed out.
On the occasion, the president who was accompanied by First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, and his family bought several pairs of shoes and jackets as well.
"I buy shoes and jackets only," he stated.
