Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received a report from the presidential medical team stating the improvement in health condition of the former president Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie.

The third Indonesian president is currently being treated at the Starnberg Clinic hospital in Germany for a leaky heart valve condition.

Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Secretariat Media of President Bey Machmudin made the statement, quoting chairman of the presidential medical team Prof Dr H Azis Rani SpPD K-GEH here.

The medical team also reported that Habibie`s breathing was better now and there were no emergencies, nutritional disorders, and any other disorders. BJ Habibie had planned to continue treatment for the next few days.

Meanwhile, Jokowi expressed hope that Habibie can return to resume his normal activities.

Jokowi, through a phone call on March 4, spoke to Habibie for a moment and prayed for his recovery.

"All of us in Indonesia are praying for you. Hopefully, you would be healthy again and would be able to resume normal activities and return to Indonesia soon," Jokowi stated.

Earlier, Habibie`s personal secretary, Rubijanto, explained here on Saturday (March 3) that Habibie`s condition had began deteriorating on Tuesday (Feb 27). At the time, Habibie was experiencing difficulty in breathing and was then immediately examined by a doctor.

The team of doctors diagnosed Habibie with a leaky heart valve, resulting in a fluid buildup of 1.5 liters in the lungs.

The doctors have advised him to undergo heart surgery immediately. However, Habibie chose to undergo a medical procedure using more sophisticated methods.
