Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Constitutional Court has expressed readiness to tackle disputes that may emerge from the regional elections in June, the court`s chief justice Arief Hidayat said here on Tuesday.

"We have prepared ourselves in case disputes happen. We have prepared all legal instruments to be needed," he said after meeting with President Jokowi.

"Until today we have known the instruments known to all parties including organizing committee officials, election supervisory agency Bawaslu, general elections ethics council and the General Elections Commission," he said.

He said candidates and their lawyers have also been informed about them so that they can implement court procedures well.

"In terms of system we are trying to build good dispute settlement like by asking anti-graft agency KPK to accompany the court to monitor it along with journalists to prevent possible cases during trials," he said.

Arief said at the meeting with the President he had asked him to find replacement for justice Maria Farida who would complete her term in August 2018 or when elections results were revealed.

A total of 171 regions will conduct elections to choos provincial governors, district heads and city mayors simultaneously on June 27.
