The suspect was shot dead while trying to escape from custody and attacking the agency`s personnel, BNN Deputy of Eradication Inspector General (Pol) Arman Depari, stated here on Wednesday.
"The smuggling attempt was revealed based on information from the public, which was then followed up by our investigation," Depari remarked.
The authority has also arrested another suspect EA, an Indonesian who played his role as courier, and seized 30 thousand ecstasy pills and two kilograms of methamphetamine.
"Previously, on Tuesday, we received information on the attempt to smuggle ecstasy pills and methamphetamine from Kuching, Malaysia, to Indonesia, via Sanggau in West Kalimantan," he elaborated.
Responding to the information, BNN and the customs office monitored the Trans Kalimantan route and arrested EA, who drove a car with license plate number KB 1437 SN.
"After raiding the suspect`s car, we found two kilograms of methamphetamine and 30 thousand ecstasy pills," he noted.
EA confessed that he was ordered by a Malaysian citizen known as Piter, who stayed in Haris Hotel in Pontianak.
"However, when we were about to arrest another suspect in Siantan, Piter tried to escape and attacked our personnel, and we had to shoot him dead," he added.
The suspect died on his way to Soedarso Hospital in the city.
