Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has directed his ministers to cooperate to improve education, starting from downstream to upstream.

"We hope through this big step, everything can be carried out together, whether in High Education Ministry, Education and Culture Ministry, or fundamental changes in the Religious Affairs Ministry, especially related to education in Islamic boarding schools," he stated in his speech during a limited meeting on the Improvement of Indonesian Human Resources at the Presidential Office here on Thursday.

The government should continue to supervise and assist educational institutions in maintaining facilities and infrastructure, such as in vocational schools, and its practical work systems in the work field.

In addition, Jokowi also called for improving the quality of the instructors for the improvement of education in Indonesia.

The president also directed the improvement of the quality of vocational schools to be in line with industry standards in the world.

Jokowi stated that the Manpower Ministry and Industry Ministry have conducted the apprenticeship place or labor in the industrial world.

The government focuses on improving the quality of human resources in Indonesia, by increasing the education budget in 2018, which reached Rp444 trillion.

The budget was recorded as 20 percent of the state budget.

In 2017, the government`s budget for education reached Rp426 trillion.
