The plan is expected to boost economic development, maritime security, search and rescue, marine science collaboration, sustainable marine resource management, maritime cultural heritage as well as combat illegal fishing.
"As a maritime country, Indonesia sees this maritime cooperation as a priority," Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said on Twitter.
Marsudi and Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu also discussed Indo-Pacific architecture with their Australian counterparts Julie Bishop and Marise Payne. Other topics of discussion included maritime security, counterterrorism, people smuggling, cyber security and Pacific diplomacy.
"Exchanging views on Indo-Pacific cooperation. Indonesia wants to ensure that the Indo-Pacific region is a peaceful, stable and prosperous region," Retno Marsudi tweeted on Friday.
The annual meeting between the two countries is to discuss cooperation and the current situation in the region.
