Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked the relevant ministries to integrate national strategic projects with regional development.

"National strategic projects must be integrated with development of leading sectors carried out by Indonesian regions. For example, it should be ensured that sea toll road program can actually reduce logistics costs and impact the decline in prices of basic commodities, especially in archipelagic areas," he remarked, in his opening remarks during a limited meeting of the Evaluation of National Strategic Project Implementation at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, on Monday.

According to Jokowi, every national strategic project should have an impact on increasing the added value of the regional economy and alleviating poverty and development imbalances.

He called on his cabinet to immediately complete the unfinished development of national strategic projects in 2017.

"Development of national strategic programs and projects in 2018 should be done as planned," he stated.

A number of officials attending the meeting included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Minister of Public Works and People`s Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Social Affairs Idrus Marham, and Minister of Health Nila F Moeloek.

In addition, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan, Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education M Nasir, Minister of Communications and Informatics Rudiantara, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Affairs Sofyan Djalil, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Head of Investment Coordinating Board Thomas Lembong, Head of National Development Planning Agency Bambang Brodjonegoro, and Chief of Staff of President Moeldoko, were also present.
