Mandalika, W Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - State Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno officiated a groundbreaking ceremony of Paramount Lombok Resort and Residence at the Mandalika Special Economic Zone, Central Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara Province, Wednesday.

"This construction is being carried out by EBD Paragon in partnership with PP company. EBD owns Paramount Pictures in the United States," Minister Soemarno remarked.

Soemarno was accompanied by Abdulbar M. Mansoer, the president director of PT ITDC, or the Indonesian Tourism Development Corporation; Wajib Malki, the president director of EBD Paragon; and Pathul Bahri, the acting district head of Central Lombok.

PT PP`s investment in Paramount Lombok Resort and Residence reflects a synergy of a state enterprise (BUMN) in developing the Mandalika special tourism economic zone, the minister noted.

"Once again, it has proven that the program of BUMN Presence for the Nation had synergized regional economic development," she remarked.

PT ITDC President Director Mansoer remarked that the investors were quite enthusiastic to invest in Mandalika using the Foreign Direct Investment facility.

The Paramount hotel project is being constructed on a plot of land measuring 7.65 hectares at a cost of Rp1.2 trillion. The hotel, with 400 rooms, is expected to be completed in 2020.

Pullman Hotel and Royal Tulip Hotel are among the star-rated hotels earlier constructed in Mandalika.

Pullman Hotel has a capacity of 270 rooms, and its construction had begun in October 2017.

The groundbreaking ceremony for Royal Tulip Hotel, with 198 rooms, was conducted on March 26, 2018.

Several hotels being planned to be constructed in Mandalika includeX2 Hotel, with 240 rooms; Club Med Hotel, 350 rooms; Grand Mercure Hotel, 342 rooms; and Aloft by Marriot Hotel, 173 rooms.

"In total, until now, the ITDC has managed to obtain an investment commitment worth Rp13.5 trillion for the development of Mandalika," he stated.

Moreover, Vinci Grand Projects, a subsidiary of France-based Vinci Group, is also interested in building the Mandalika Street Race Circuit Cluster, a venue for the world-class MotoGP race.

"The sports cluster and entertainment project, measuring 120 hectares, will include the construction of seven hotels, convention center, hospital, and other facilities for accommodation of international standard in Mandalika," he pointed out.

Within five years, the Mandalika Special Economic Zone is expected to provide employment to five thousand workers, and 56 thousand workers by 2030.

The Mandalika project is expected to help the government realize the target of attracting 20 million foreign tourists in 2019.
