Bandung, W Java (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), after more than a decade in operation, said 12 regional leaders in West Java had been implicated in corruption.

West Java, therefore, has the largest number of heads of district administration named corruption suspects by KPK among 34 provinces of the country. Some of the suspects have been convicted.

Altogether in the country, 93 regional leaders including 18 governors and 75 district heads and city mayors have been named suspects in corruption by KPK and some of them have been tried and convicted.

"Among the 93 regional leaders, 12 are from West Java or the largest number per province," chief of the Task Force of Prevention Coordination and Supervision of KPK Asep Rahmat Suwandha, said here on Wednesday.

For the sake of comparison Asep said East Java had 8 regional leaders suspected of corruption by KPK .

The most recent corruption case in West Java involved the district head of Subang nabbed on charge of graft.
