"I have a strong attachment to Indonesia because my mother was born in Medan, North Sumatra," Mayor Haese said in a statement from the Indonesian consulate in Sydney received by Antara here on Tuesday.
He added that he is looking forward to cooperation with such cities as Bandung, and probably Surabaya (East Java) to establish collaboration in the field of technology and smart city developments.
Meanwhile, Consul General Subolo said currently Bandung is the best smart city in Indonesia.
"Bandung already has a Command Center where the government can utilize technology to organize the city, including taking quick action related to congestion and flood problems," the Consul General explained.
He asserted that Bandung and Adelaide have in common as a smart and innovative city to build further collaboration.
In addition to building a strong profile as a festival city, the city administration of Adelaide also boosts the developments of technology and connectivity infrastructures, including data networks. These are the manifestation of Mayor Haese`s mission to strengthen Adelaide`s reputation as an innovative smart city.
Consul General Heru Subolo and his wife, Sinta Subolo were in Adelaide in order to carry out a courtesy visit which is part of the task of a newly appointed Consul General. During the meeting Mayor Haese was also accompanied by his wife, Genevieve Theseira-Haese.
During the visit to Adelaide the Consul General was accompanied by the Economic Consul, Silvia Malau and the Consul of Information, Social and Culture, Hermanus Dimara.
Also participated at the business and economic meetings were the Head of ITPC (Indonesian Trade Promotion Center) Sydney, Agung Harris and the Head of IIPC (Indonesian Investment Promotion Center), Sri Moertiningroem.
The Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney oversees the work areas of New South Wales, Queensland, and South Australia.
