"Currently, the government has simplified the permits for the recruitment of foreign workers. Therefore, it is necessary to control foreign workers," Manpower Minister Hanif Dhakiri said here on Thursday.
The minister stated that the members of task force were a recommendation from the Commission IX of the House of Representatives.
Basically, Indonesia accepts foreign workers who comply with the applicable regulations.
"The government will enforce the law as the foreign workers break the rules," the minister remarked.
So far, the government had a supervisory system for foreign workers, namely through immigration agencies and the Ministry of Manpower.
"The government establishes a task force to strengthen the monitoring," he added.
The task force will work for six months. It is also required to provide a report every three months.
"After six months, we will evaluate the performance of this task force," the minister revealed.
The task force can conduct guidance and supervision of foreign workers.
The House of Representatives will not refuse the foreign labors working in Indonesia, a member of Commission IX Dede Yusuf explained.
"The Commission IX has recommended the establishment of the task force because the local community finds illegal foreign workers in some places," the minister pointed out.
