"We are optimistic that the flow of tourists into NTT Province will increase following direct flight services from Kupang to Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara," NTT ASITA Chairman Abed Frans remarked here on Monday.
According to Frans, Lion Air will start operating flights on the Kupang-Lombok route, starting May 25, 2018, and ASITA has positively welcomed the operations of flights from various areas to NTT through Labuan Bajo and Kupang City.
In addition to accelerating the flow of transportation, he added that the Kupang-Lombok route will offer opportunities to tourists from Lombok to travel to Labuan Bajo, or Kupang in NTT.
The management of Lion Air Airlines had earlier noted that it will start operating flights on a new route from Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara; to Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara; from May 25, 2018.
"Direct daily flights at 5 p.m. local time from Kupang to Lombok will be served by ATR aircraft," Lion Air Manager for Kupang Rynus Zebua stated earlier.
He explained that the new flight route that Lion Air will serve is part of the company`s commitment to supporting Indonesia`s tourism, especially in NTT.
"Several tourists from Bali are traveling to Lombok, and we hope that with the direct flights, they would continue the trip to NTT," he added.
