Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta Metro Police are investigating a teenager for insulting and threatening the Indonesian President, Joko Widodo, on social media.

The police spokesperson and Senior Commissioner, Argo Yuwono, said here on Friday that the teenager was questioned after a video of him insulting the president went viral. However, since underaged persons should not be arrested, he was sent to the Marsudi Putra Handayani Social Home in Bambu Apus, East Jakarta.

The police had formed a team to investigate a viral video of a shirtless man threatening Widodo verbally while holding a photo of the President.

The 19-second video was posted on an Instagram account @jojo_ismyname on Wednesday. The teenager was picked up by the police from a house in Kembangan, West Jakarta, the same day.

Five other persons, suspected to have helped make and distribute the video, were also questioned by the police.

Meanwhile, the Head of Indonesia`s Child Protection Commission (KPAI), Susanto, recommended that the teenager apologise to the public. "He was willing to apologise and appeal to other teenagers not to follow his actions," said Susanto.
