Pemalang, Central Java (ANTARA News) - PT Pertamina (Persero) has predicted a 15 per cent increase in the daily national fuel oil consumption during the Eid-al-Fitr long holidays.

The highest increase was predicted on June 9 by 35 per cent and on June 13 and 19 by 32 per cent over normal consumption, said the acting President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, in a statement here on Wednesday.

The company, she said, would increase fuel oil stock and distribution during the fasting month Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitr . Supply of gasoline would be increased to 104,000 kilolitres a day and of gasoil to 33,900 kilolitres a day.

Pertamina anticipated the number of holidaymakers would go up by 11.13 per cent compared to last year. The number of holidaymakers with motorcycles was expected to increase to 7.67 million compared to 6.8 million in 2017. The number of holidaymakers with cars was expected to increase from 3.1 million in 2017 to 3.46 million.

"The crucial points are toll and non-toll routes in the northern coast area, thus we have prepared some alternatives to distribute fuel oil to maximise our services," she said.

In Banten, Jakarta and West Java provinces, from Merak to Brebes, Pertamina had prepared four Serambi Pertamax, 23 Kiosk Pertamax, 30 units of motorist, 50 bags of fuel oil and three mobile dispensers.

While in Central Java, from Brebes to Sragen the company would prepare six Serambi Pertamax, 21 Kiosk Pertamax, 125 units of motorist, 26 bags of fuel oil, and 11 units of mobile dispensers.

Compared to last year, fuel oil supply in 2018 had sharply increased to anticipate congestion on the Gandulan-Pemalang-Rapyak-Ngasem, Kartosuro routes.

In addition to fuel oil, Pertamina would also supply more liquified petroleum gas (LPG), with consumption predicted to peak in the last week ahead of Eid-al-Fitr. The consumption during the period was expected to increase by some 17 per cent, from the daily average of 23,124 tonnes to 27,000 tonnes.

Pertamina has increased LPG stock endurance to 17.6 days on the average. In term of distribution, the company would prepare 3,094 LPG agents under public service obligation (PSO) and non-PSO as well, and 31,612 LPG PSO stations across the country.
