"I think the people are happy with it. TNI and Polri share ideas, sweat, and bravery for one goal, to protect the Indonesian people and the state," he said in his address at the event.
The togetherness between TNI and Polri will make the people feel secure and convenient in carrying out their activities, he said.
The president said he was concerned about a recent series of terror attacks in several parts of the country, including Surabaya and Sidoarjo, that claimed lives.
"The terror attacks claimed lives, including of our security personnel. The people currently need protection and security, particularly during this fasting month. Thank God that TNI and Polri are united to protect the people against terrorism," he said.
The TNI Chief Marshal, Hadi Tjahjanto, said the fast-breaking event was aimed to give actual meaning to Ramadhan service as well as to enhance collaboration between TNI and Polri.
The TNI-Polri collaboration was needed to address the increasingly complicated challenges facing the nation, including terrorism, radicalism and intolerance, he said.
The TNI-Polri collaboration was also needed to ensure the success of the Asian Games 2018 and simultaneous elections this year to choose heads of regions.
"The integration of all national components is crucial to ensure the success of various national and international scale events that we will organise in 2018 and 2019," he said.
The Polri Chief General, Tito Karnavian, said "We have carried out a series of activities involving the Polri and TNI chiefs as well as rank and file to monitor activities in a number of regions that will hold simultaneous regional head elections."
