"We are already working with travel agents in Bali, so that every Asian tourist who wants to continue their trip to Batam will be brought here," Riau Islands Natural Explorer (PARI) Community activist, who participated in managing Terih Village Tourism, Ader, said here on Saturday.
The manager of Terih Village has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with travel agency representatives to bring in about two thousand foreign tourists over two years.
He remarked that since the MoU was made before Ramadan, about 100 foreign tourists have stopped by at the tourist sites.
"Not bad, the number of visitors is changing every week," he added.
The manager of Terih Village also works with hotels around Nongsa tourism area to bring in guests there.
Terih Village is an alternative tourism destination built by local residents and the environment and tourism communities.
The managers have built a number of selfie locations, with a variety of themes, for visitors.
There are also wooden pads for those who want to walk along the mangrove forest on foot.
Now, the tour of Village of Terih has started to provide wooden boats for tours across the mangrove forest.
Local visitors who want to enjoy Terih Village only need to pay Rp5 thousand per person.
"Every weekend, usually, there are about 100 visitors who come to relax and take pictures," he remarked.
Meanwhile, a visitor noted that he enjoyed Terih Village tourist area.
"I love this place, because Batam has no other alternative natural tourist attractions. It is boring to visit malls over and over again," he pointed out. *** 3 ***
